Big Brother Luke

It's always interesting to watch the dynamic between any two of the kids.  Two that are "next to each other" in order have a different relationship than ones that are farther apart.  While Damien is often more competitive with Jude (who is only three years older, and much closer to him in physical size), Luke has generally been "just a short grownup" to Damien because of their twelve-year age difference.  Last week, Damien had to write a Biographical Poem about someone, and he opted for Luke to be his topic.

Luke is taking online college classes, so he's generally either glued to his laptop watching lectures and doing homework or wandering the kitchen in search of sustenance to continue the former.  He came in the other day and innocently asked, "What are you doing?"

 Damien immediately went on the defensive, moving things around the table and barking, "You can't see yet!"  He looked like Luke was trying to steal his SAT answers!

When he was finally done, he showed Luke his poem.  I have to say, it's pretty spot-on.  It's not altogether flattering but filled with both honesty and hero-worship that only big brothers can evoke.
