5 Days of Homeschooling Essentials: Pinterest

Pinterest....ah, Pinterest...how do I love thee?  Let me count the ways...

Adventures with Jude - Pinterest

You're so visual. I can see pictures instead of words.  "Fall craft" doesn't mean much to me...it could be a scarecrow, or leaves, or pumpkins. I don't remember. But with the images, I quickly decide what project I want us to do.

You're my very own filing system, and nobody thinks I'm crazy.  I tease my mother all the time about her phone book.  My name is Meg Falciani.  My phone number could be under M for Meg, N for Neal (as in Neal & Meg), it might be under F for Falciani, or nestled under C for "Cell phone."  It's entirely possible it exists in more than one of those areas...because it fits in all of them.  I guess apples don't fall far from trees, because I have the same item pinned in several areas...a Halloween lapbook for Damien might under "Homeschooling Lapbooks" or "Homeschooling PK/K" or "Homeschooling Holidays."  And that really sweet Christmas book?  Under "Holidays Christmas" and "Holiday Books."  Then it doesn't matter where I'm looking -- I will find you!

Unlike other social media outlets, you're not stingy.  I can see what my friends want to do.  I can see what strangers are doing.  Perhaps a little creepy on the surface, but if two heads are better than one, then two thousand or two million have to be even better, right?  Sometimes there's just that one pin I see that makes me shout "Eureka!!" in triumph because that's exactly what I was thinking but couldn't put into words to make a search engine understand me.

When we first started homeschooling, almost all of Jude's first semester came from Pinterest!  With pins to printables, crafts, and recipes, it's entirely possible to homeschool preschool -- and really, probably through second grade, depending on your child's learning style -- with nothing but Pinterest and the library!

Is it any wonder why I think Pinterest is a homeschooling essential?

5 Days of Homeschooling Essentials Schoolhouse Crew ReviewThere are 89 Crew Members sharing what they think is essential to them.  That's a LOT of reading.  It would be awesome if you could read all 89 blogs, but almost 450 posts in one week is a tall task.  However, to make it a little easier for you, we've divided ourselves into smaller groups.  I'd love if you'd take a few minutes to visit the others in my group - I know there are MANY great ideas.

  3. The very reasons you love pinterest are the very reasons it is so not for me. Too many visuals is visual overload for me. My oldest daughter loves it though. I can see why it is an essential for you but is so not for me LOL

My hubby is the same way. He's not a visual-organizer person -- so many pictures makes him cross-eyed! You do have to be a visual person for it.
