Today is easy. I'm grateful for waking up each day. Bonus: I'm also grateful that hubby is up ahead of me to take pictures of the sunrise. I'm more of a "sunset" kind of gal, but sunrise can be incredible.
I don't like getting up, but I have made it a little easier for me. My first alarm goes off at 6:00 in the morning. Instead of a peppy, lively song for my alarm, I've chosen a piece of Gregorian Chant.
It's entitled "Adoro Te Devote," and was written by St. Thomas Aquinas. Often only the first two or three lines are sung before I manage to whap the snooze, but my morning begins with
Adoro te devote, latens Deitas,
Quæ sub his figuris vere latitas;
Tibi se cor meum totum subjicit,
Quia te contemplans totum deficit.
Quæ sub his figuris vere latitas;
Tibi se cor meum totum subjicit,
Quia te contemplans totum deficit.
Translated:
- I devoutly adore you, O hidden Deity,
- Truly hidden beneath these appearances.
- My whole heart submits to you,
- And in contemplating you,
- It surrenders itself completely.
- Frankly, I think the world would be a better place if life didn't start until around 10 am, but through Him all things are possible...even getting my head off the pillow and diving into the day.
